Meeting called to order at 7 pm.  Tiffany welcomed everyone to the meeting.  She reviewed tonight’s agenda with the attendees.  

Fireside Chat 

Mr. Chris Valentine, BOE President and Dr. John Marschhausen, DCS new Superintendent spoke to the meeting attendees and took questions from the attendees.

President’s Report – Tiffany Marr

PTO awarded $1,000 scholarships to three graduating scioto Seniors.  A virtual awards ceremony is set for Wednesday May 12 with administration, PTO board, recipients and their parents.  

Tiffany encouraged participation from parents for the 2021-22 school year.  We have filled most committee roles, but are looking for volunteers for Social Media, Academic Boosters, Fall Fundraiser and P.E.R.C. representative.  Amy Starnes volunteered for Academic Boosters and Tish Rinker volunteered for P.E.R.C.  Please email the PTO at ptodavis@gmail.com if you are interested in helping out next school year.

Principal’s Report – Dr. Ann Perez, Mr. Jason Snyder, Mrs. Helena Richards

Dr. Perez reported that the 8th grade celebration will take place this year, however it  will be recorded and shared with parents.  Appropriate social distancing will be in place.

Mrs. Richards reported that the State Testing has been completed with only one makeup day remaining.  They scheduled 5 days of testing over a two week period of time. On site testing was for RLA and in person students.

Mr. Snyder reported that they recently held the “Living the Irish Way” award ceremony.  They celebrated by grade level.  Each student received a thank you from the teacher that nominated them. 

Treasurer’s Report –  Ginger Kockentiet and Asch Mikhail

Current balances for PTO Checking and Savings were shared with the group. We currently have $7,618.16 in checking and $26,433.30 in savings.  We target to maintain one years expenses in reserve in preparation for years when we might not raise as much money. First time since 2013 that we had to pull from savings to cover current expenses.  We withdrew $5,000.

Recent expenses include $1,000 for Academic Signs.  We sell signs for $15 and we make $5 on each sign sold.   We completed our donations of $750 to Eversole Run Middle School PTO and $250 to Hopewell Elementary PTO.  These funds help establish PTO as our newest schools.  These donations were approved at our February 2021 general membership meeting.

Upcoming expenses will include funding Irish Way Scholarships, Staff Appreciation in May and 8th Grade Irish Way Celebration.  

Spirit wear sale was extended two weeks to allow more time for orders to be placed.  Our vendor is now producing the items and looking to deliver items or make available for pick up by the end of next week.

Secretary’s Report – Jennifer Talley

Jennifer presented the previous month’s meeting minutes for review and approval.  The minutes were also posted to our blog for review prior to this meeting.  No comments were made.  Minutes approved – 1st Dr. Perez, 2nd Jason Snyder.

Nominating Committee for Executive Board Roles 2021-22

The nominating committee presented their nominees to fill open Executive Board roles for 2021-22.  We will vote on these nominees at our May 19, 2021 General Membership Meeting.  Our nominees are Jill Nagy-Reynolds for Co-Treasurer, presented by Ginger Kockentiet (nominated by Tiffany Marr), Melinda Norfleet for Co-VP/Co-President, presented by Tiffany deSilva (nominated by Tiffany Marr) and Sarah Smith for Co-VP/Co-President, presented by Elaine Spielberg (nominated by Ginger Kockentiet).
