Black History Month is an opportunity to understand Black histories, going beyond stories of racism and slavery to spotlight Black achievement. It is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing that black history is American history.

Today the the nation celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a civil rights leader who dedicated his life to achieving equality for people of all colors. He was one of the twentieth century’s best-known advocates for nonviolent social change. So powerful was the movement he inspired, that Congress enacted the Civil Rights Act in 1964, the same year Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize.

On this important day – consider spending some time with your family learning more about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Below you can find some ideas for activities, books, and movies to expand your knowledge about Dr. King, the Civil Rights Movement, and how you can get involved!

DCS Community – Give the Gift of Gratitude!

Help us show the Dublin City Schools Nurses, Clinic Aides, Custodians, Maintenance Crews, and Transportation Department just how much they mean to Dublin City Schools!  The goal is to raise enough money to provide all staff members with a gift bag to show our appreciation for their hard work in keeping our schools running so well.
