Davis Dance-a-Thon Kicks Off Today!

Dear Davis Parents,
The Dance for Davis Dance-a-Thon fundraiser kicks off today! Our annual fall fundraiser is typically our biggest school fundraiser of the year!
The Dance-a-thon is a fun event in which students raise money by collecting donations or pledges for dancing a set number of minutes during a special in-school dance day. The Dance-a-Thon takes place at the end of the day on September 18th (6th grade), September 19th (7th grade), and September 20th (8th grade).

HOW IT WORKS
Students invite family, friends, and neighbors to support them by contributing a flat amount for participating in the Dance-a-Thon.

We are excited to streamline our fundraiser by adding an online platform. You will now be able to reach out to friends and family by email, text, Facebook, and Twitter.

Simply search and find your student’s online pledge page at the following link (search by student’s first name and last initial): https://app.99pledges.com/fund/annsimpson

You do not need to login or change anything. Simply make a donation for whatever you can, and share your students’ link with friends and family.
Here is some sample sharing text:

“{{Student’s Name}} is participating in a fundraiser, and would love your support. If you’d like to donate, you can do so online at the following link: {{student’s pledge page url}}

Thank you for your support!”

You will still be able to accept physical cash and check donations, as well, by using the paper donation form and envelope provided. Please return cash and check donations on collection days (9/6, 9/13, or 9/16). Checks should be made payable to Davis PTO.

Funds raised go to support Davis athletics, performing arts, related arts, field trips, scholarships, community events, teacher grants, and so much more. The Davis PTO is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and your donation is tax deductible. Federal ID number is 31-1246476. Please know that no amount is too small. We appreciate every bit of support!

August 2019 PTO Meeting Minutes

Introductions

Principal’s Report – Ann Perez

  • Davis is home to 1044 students this year which is higher than expected.Counselors are working to balance out classroom sizes.
  • Perez and the Assistant Principals have met with each class. Dr. Perez shared her motto with the kids – “Respect Yourself; Respect Others; Respect Your Shared Environment” – this ties in nicely with the Irish Way
  • The staff is working on helping our 6thgraders with any lunch room anxiety. The lunch room is very full.  The courtyard is open for lunch use.  Looking at ways to incorporate the stage area to highlight students living the Irish Way.  Also looking into adding in Wireless Wednesdays.
  • Perez highlighted the upcoming Taiko drumming concert.
  • Snyder mentioned the upcoming Fall Festival on October 24th. PTO will be asked to run concessions.
  • Snyder shared that they are looking for ways to tie in service work for in school suspension students – working at the Dublin Food Pantry on Monday’s after school. This may open up to any interested students in the future.

Secretary’s Report – Noreen Marando

  • No minutes to review and approve.
  • Be sure to follow the PTO blog at DMSPTO.org and Facebook.
  • Noreen will send links to Dr. Perez for Weekly Wednesday

Treasurer’s Report – Ginger Kockentiet and Asch Mikhail

  • Davis PTO Checking Balance is $12,848.37; Savings Balance is $31,422.93.We must keep a combined balance of $25,000 to avoid fees.  Group discussed potentially moving to an institution that would not have fees.  At this point, the group agreed to wait until having a $25,000 balance was an issue.
  • Budget for 2019-2020 school year presented. Christina Goodwin made a motion to approve the budget.  Amy Starnes seconded the motion.  All were in favor.
  • Ginger will send budget to Noreen to post to the PTO blog.
  • The PTO currently has 2 credit card readers for events. The treasurers will get 2 more to ensure we have enough for the Spaghetti Dinner.
  • Noreen will send details on Kroger and Amazon donation methods to Dr. Perez for the Weekly Wednesday.

Committee Reports – Committee Leaders

  • Tiffany reviewed the list of committee leaders and openings.
  • Leanne Evans and Jennifer Talley agreed to share the PERC Representative position.
  • Leanne Evans mentioned that she had lots of questions over the summer regarding school supplies and the change for 8thgraders not having pre-made kits.

President’s Report – Tiffany deSilva

  • PTO will have tables in the Media Center at the Open House with information and refreshments.
  • Fall Fundraiser – Dance a Thon
    • Volunteer sign up will be sent out.
    • Dance a Thon will take place last hour of the day on 9/18, 9/19 and 9/20. Each grade level will have a modified schedule.
  • Upcoming events
    • Open House – August 22
    • Fundraiser Kick-off – September 3
    • Next PTO Meeting – September 25th7:00 PM

“Dance for Davis” Fundraiser Volunteers Needed!

  • Our Annual Fall Fundraiser is right around the corner and we could use your help! This year, the PTO is sponsoring the “Dance for Davis” Dance-a-Thon to raise funds to support the Davis athletics department, performing arts, related arts, and so much more!

  • The PTO is looking for volunteers to help with assembling fundraiser packets, distributing fundraising materials, collecting/counting funds raised, and assisting on the dance days.

A few more donations needed….

We still need a few more donations for our Back to School luncheon for our teachers and staff.  Your time and contributions are greatly appreciated!!!…

It’s that time again! School is just about to begin and the Davis PTO would like to welcome back the teachers and staff with a luncheon on August 13th, as they prepare for students to arrive!

We will be providing a variety of sandwiches from McAlister’s Deli, but we are in need of a few other items to round out the meal. Please consider donating an item from our list or volunteering your time to help out with the luncheon.

The school office will be open daily to accept donations. If you are providing an item that requires refrigeration, please deliver it to the school office on the morning of August 13th by 10 am.
