Staff & Teacher Back to School Luncheon (A few more items needed!)

We need a few more side dish/dessert items and volunteers for setup/cleanup!!

It’s that time…school is just about to begin and the PTO at Davis would like to welcome back the teachers and staff with a luncheon on MondayAugust 15th as they prepare for students to arrive!

We will be providing a variety of sandwiches from McAlister’s Deli, but are in need of other items to round out the meal. Please take a look at the ways you could donate or volunteer your time. The school office is open to accept donations daily. If you are providing something that needs refrigeration, please deliver to the school office on the morning of the 15th, no later than 10:00 a.m.

If you’re planning on ordering a school supply kit for next year, please turn in your completed forms (with payment) by Monday, May 23rd. These forms were sent home with your student last week.

PTO Meeting and more…

Hello everyone,

Just a reminder that our next (and final for the year) Davis MS PTO meeting will be Wednesday May 18 at noon in the library media center.  Please join us for this meeting – your attendance is important as we will be discussing committees for next year as well as some planning for funding expenses for the 2016-2017 school year.  This meeting is a great time to attend if you want your voice heard on how PTO expenses are allocated!  Please see the agenda for the meeting below.

8th Grade Graduation Video

Attention 8th grade parents!

Davis PTO is putting together a video to be shown at graduation, and needs your gorgeous photos of your kids to include in the video.  Here’s how to get photos to the PTO:

Electronically (preferred method):

– Email 3 photos (a baby photo, an elementary photo and a current photo) to dkphotographic@gmail.com.
– Include the full name of your student.
– Include a parent’s email address so the PTO can communicate with you if there are any questions/concerns.

If you prefer to send printed photos:

– Place 3 photos (a baby photo, an elementary photo and a current photo) in an envelope with your student’s full name on the envelope.
– Include a parent’s email address so the PTO can communicate with you if there are any questions/concerns.
– Drop them in the red box on the window ledge in the main office.

DEADLINE:  Friday, May 20th

Teacher Grant Requests Approved

I want to thank our PTO parents that attended our April PTO meeting, where we voted to unanimously approve the two teacher grant requests we received this year; one to purchase Scholastic Scope magazines for the 6th grade Language Arts teachers, and two to purchase new panel mats for the physical education department.  We’re proud to be able to support these requests from the teachers!

Dublin Scioto Lady Irish Volleyball camp

School Supply Sale

The School Supply Kit sale for next school year is starting now.  These supply kits are a one-stop-shop for your kids’ supplies, very easy to order (online or paper copy) and helps you avoid long lines at a store. The kits are available for purchase from now through the end of this month (paper forms: May 23rd, online orders: May 31st).  The kits will only include items in the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade supply list, NOT electives (such as ELL, Reading Intervention, Tech Solutions, etc).  Parents will need to purchase these elective items on their own.

There are two ways to order your child’s supply kit (Online or Paper Form w/check).  Order online at www.shopttkits.com, use code 9625 or paper form (this will be sent home with your child).

When you place your order the school supplies (enclosed in a small cardboard box with your child’s name on it) will be delivered to the school, so there will be no need to carry a load of supplies to school since it will be conveniently delivered to the school.  The kits will be available for pick-up on your student’s walk-thru day (6th grade Aug 10, 6p-7:30p, 7/8th grade Aug 11th 8a-3p).  If the kit is not picked up on walk-thru day, it will be placed in your child’s homeroom class.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Lunch Donations

The PTO will be providing an end of the school year “Thank You” lunch for the teachers/staff on Tuesday, May 3rd, during teacher appreciation week.  The PTO will be providing pulled pork barbecue and pulled smoked chicken from Montgomery Inn and we are looking for donations to complete the meal.

Walk the Irish Way – Volunteers Needed

By now your student has brought home information and a donation envelope for the upcoming Davis Walk the Irish Way event – Friday, February 29th 2:00 – 3:00 pm.  (If they haven’t, start digging through their backpacks – grin).

This is a great event – the kids get to get-moving outside and raise money for positive climate events Davis and the Prevent Child Abuse America organization.  We ask that each walker donate at least $5 to participate.  The event will end at the track with popsicles and music!  Parents are encouraged to participate too!
